Proportional pressure control of hydraulic valves
with WEST Electronics
When it comes to the proportional pressure control of hydraulic valves, such as those frequently used in machine tools to control clamping pressures, the coordination of the individual components is very important. The desired pressures can only be precisely controlled and reliably set if the control and hydraulic components harmonize well with each other.
Options for proportional pressure control of hydraulic valves
Shown here is a combination of proportional pressure regulator PPD-11A in an intermediate plate (WINNER HYDRAULICS) in conjunction with a power amplifier PAM-190-P-I (plug amplifier) and a pressure regulator module MDR-133-U (WEST Elektronik).
The MDR-133-P pressure control module with integrated power output stage could also have been used as an option.
Programming and control
The plug amplifier PAM-190-P can be set quickly and easily with a laptop or PC using the ULA-310 programming adapter and software. After entering the basic parameters (Current, I-Min, I-Max, Trigger and PWM frequency), the hydraulic valve is now ready for activation. Fine adjustment can be carried out in a further step.
The MDR-133-U pressure regulator module can be programmed similarly quickly and easily via USB cable. After entering: System pressure, sensor data, output signal and setpoint, the control parameters still need to be roughly set. The system can then be carefully put into operation.
The CDWIN parameter can be used to set the monitoring range of the controller deviation from the setpoint pressure to the actual pressure. If the control deviation is within the specification, this is signaled via the status output or the status LED (YELLOW A). An enable signal, e.g. for the clamping pressure, can therefore be issued via the status output.
Monitoring functions (4… 20 mA input signals, solenoid current monitoring and internal module monitoring) are activated or deactivated via the error monitoring (SENS).
Proportional pressure control for hydraulic circuits can be implemented easily and efficiently using the components mentioned above.
Convenient commissioning of the pressure control with assistance system
Another convenient solution is to use the MDR-337-P pressure regulator module with integrated power amplifier and commissioning wizard.
The assistance system determines an optimum pilot control curve to control the hydraulic valve or hydraulic pump. hydraulic pump and to compensate for any overlapping (zero offset). The function consists of two parts, namely the determination of the stationary system characteristic curve and a dynamic measurement for controller adjustment.
