Test report oil service device FAPC2 016, Schuhmacher Präzisionsdrehteile GmbH
Customer:
Schuhmacher Präzisionsdrehteile GmbH is a competent partner for the development and manufacture of precision turned parts and assemblies for a wide range of industries and applications. They are an OEM partner and Tier X supplier with years of experience. As a family business, Schuhmacher stands for respectful and fair treatment of partners, employees and customers.
Machine/system:
Lathe Benzinger (6µm filter in the bypass flow) Hydraulic OIL HLP46 approx. 100 liters
Challenge:
Since Schuhmacher supplies many automobile manufacturers directly just in time, maximum machine availability is essential. In the past, some supply units had to be replaced; this is usually associated with unplanned machine downtimes and costs a lot of time and money. In order to master this challenge even better, active fluid management of the most important machines will be introduced in the future. As part of a product demonstration, we cleaned the hydraulic oil of the above-mentioned lathe with the FAPC2 016
Filter system used:
Type: FAPC2 016
Filter capacity: 16 liters/min.
Filter fineness: 3µm
Result:
At the beginning we measured a purity class according to ISO 4406 of 18/16/15 with the integrated particle counter, which is generally not particularly bad. After about 60 minutes of filtration in the bypass, we were able to achieve a purity class of 12/11/10, which is more than good on this machine. At the same time, we took an oil sample to check whether the oil quality still met the requirements. In principle, the oil is still usable, but we noticed increased wear values, the copper content is above normal and indicates abrasive or corrosive wear.
Recommendation:
The origin of the increased wear (copper) should be particularly examined on this machine. If these particles were not caused by machining, this could be the first sign of wear on the pump or valves. Since an oil cooler is installed on the machine, this should also be inspected for damage. Due to the high number of machines, it makes sense to introduce consistent, sustainable and efficient fluid management. This is the only way to maximize machine availability.
Comment:
Michael Schmid (production manager):
The filter system is very easy to use and the purity class of the hydraulic oil can be read in a very short time. Even in a closed circuit, you’ll be shocked at how contaminated the hydraulic oil is! The oil is continuously cleaned without the intervention of an employee.
