This may lead to foaming or an increased risk of cavitation. Malfunctions and damage to the hydraulic system are inevitable. For this reason, many manufacturers of hydraulic systems generally prohibit any mixing with other hydraulic fluids, including hydraulic fluids of the same classification, because modern lubricants are made from a variety of base oils and &#8220;ingredients&#8221;, i.e. complex combinations of active ingredients (additives). This additive cocktail can enhance the existing properties of the base oil or give the end product a required property for the application. The list of different base oils and additive components is very long and experience has shown that hydraulic oil manufacturers are not willing to show their cards.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The experience of independent oil laboratories has shown time and again in their daily work with hydraulic problems that hydraulic oils with the same base oil, similar viscosity and comparable density mix very well with each other, but due to the different additives, incompatibilities occur during operation, which is then the reason for the hydraulic malfunction of the system.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Note: What is chemically miscible can have a highly negative effect on the physical properties of the hydraulic fluid.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Attention! Some oil suppliers advertise miscibility in their technical data sheets and only confirm this. However, the question from the user to the oil supplier must be: <strong>&#8220;Are the hydraulic oils compatible with each other after mixing?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Miscibility<\/strong> describes a chemical property and is only given when two liquids easily dissolve completely in each other.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Compatibility<\/strong>, on the other hand, means that two fluids or two hydraulic oils can be easily mixed together, but must retain their individual properties. The different additive packages must not react against each other. This happens if it is not clarified with the oil supplier before mixing hydraulic oils with different designations whether the same or approximately the same additive performance is used in addition to the same base oil properties. Mixing oils with different base oils and different additives should be avoided as far as possible. Information on the compatibility of lubricants is often difficult or impossible to obtain from the oil supplier.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>The following hydraulic fluids should not be mixed under any circumstances:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hydraulic oils of different classifications (HLP\/HLPD\/HVLP)<\/li>\n<li>Zinc-free and zinc-containing hydraulic oils<\/li>\n<li>Hydraulic oils and engine oils<\/li>\n<li>Oils with detergent and non-detergent properties<\/li>\n<li>Oils of the same classification and brands with different viscosities<\/li>\n<li>Biodegradable oils (HEES\/HEPG\/HETG\/HEPR) and mineral oils<\/li>\n<li>Biodegradable oils of different brands despite the same classification (e.g. HEES)<\/li>\n<li>Biodegradable oils of different classifications (e.g. HEES with HETG)<\/li>\n<li>Glycol-based oils with all other synthetic oils or mineral oils<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-1d91f89 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"1d91f89\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-5faa447\" data-id=\"5faa447\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4c91012 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"4c91012\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"507\" height=\"369\" src=\"https:\/\/schuhmacher-tech.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/1705064711-1.jpg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full wp-image-18398\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/schuhmacher-tech.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/1705064711-1.jpg 507w, https:\/\/schuhmacher-tech.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/1705064711-1-300x218.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 507px) 100vw, 507px\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d17946e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d17946e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>4. loss of lubricity due to mixing<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-23c6de4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"23c6de4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>The following problems may occur:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increased risk of surface foaming<\/li>\n<li>Deteriorated air separation capacity<\/li>\n<li>Increased risk of cavitation<\/li>\n<li>Changed behavior towards water<\/li>\n<li>Seal and hydraulic hose line wear<\/li>\n<li>Change in friction characteristics<\/li>\n<li>Shortened hydraulic oil service life<\/li>\n<li>Poorer filterability or reduction in filter service life<\/li>\n<li>Increased system contamination due to dissolved deposits<\/li>\n<li>Increased formation of sludge, deposits \/ varnish due to additive reactions<\/li>\n<li>Sticking, e.g. due to zinc soap<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fresh oil top-ups should only be carried out if the existing oil quality in the system still meets the requirements (viscosity, acid content, oxidation). Please also note that fresh oil is only filled using filling pumps with the appropriate filter fineness (absolute filtration).
